Alibre Assy File Error

Just a few days ago I read of the integration between Alibre and Mecway (I'm slow to the party). Great news for all... except I can't get the assemblies to import without an error. Individual part files import and mesh fine, but assemblies show an error on each part of the assembly (see attached).

What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

  • Hello ToddG.

The 2nd line of that message comes from Alibre so it would refer to the Alibre license key. Some ideas beyond making sure an Alibre license is activated:

Maybe you have multiple versions of Alibre Design installed and Mecway is linked to an unlicensed one. Confirm the version number in Tools -> Options -> Alibre.

Try to export an assembly as STEP file directly from the Alibre GUI to see if it's a broader problem.
  • Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I can't find any other version of Alibre except my licensed one, and that is the one that Mecway finds and to which is linked. And I can import individual ad.prt files with no issue, as well as create .stp files and import into Mecway. Also, the part files are all in the same folder as the parent file and those locations are linked and open fine in Alibre.

I'm hoping this is not one of those diabolical issues that computers sometimes have. See attachment.
  • I'm able to reproduce the problem. It's a bug in Mecway which makes it unable to import assemblies with Alibre Atom3D. Sorry about that.

I'll get back to you about providing a fix.
  • Thanks Victor, glad you found it.

I intend to release a small update in January that fixes this bug and a few others.
  • Great, thanks.
  • Version 31 available today works with assemblies and Alibre Atom3D. https://mecway.com/download
