Hi Víctor, i'm very pleased to hear that you will work n VTK support. One thing that I miss using Paraview is the hability to hide and show components, can you take this in mind?
Regards
Dave, in this case you can use the CCX features directly from the Mecway interface, select first 3d no lineal analysis and then the CCX contact feature will be available as a new boundary condition.
Normally you can start with the default setting a…
This is the model solved with contacts on CCX, you should play a little with the friction coeficients also. I made a first run without defining the contact between the bolt shaft and holes, and due to the lateral loading the nylon pad slides away fr…
Vicotr, I have noted that the cutting plane cuts leaving the complete elements, so it doesn't form a flat surface. Is possible to cut also the elements?
Regards
You can easily solve it in CCX, contact treatment is really wonderfull in this last versions. You could even model the bolt (or rivet?) preload by means of a thermal load.

Another option would be to export the results as vtk. True is that there are two options available (one command line utility and the other is Candy Store) to made it, but they are not very reliable.
Some pictures of my first model postprocesed in this way. I really miss the usefull engineering units in Paraview so I must be very carefull.
Once you play a little with other postprocesors one can really appreciate the god job done on Mecway to ea…
It will run a set of standard problems and checks against know results, then inform you of any discrepancy. In Windows normally there are very few test with slightly different results, but I have an installation that give me almost all results diffe…
Is always good to check if the installation is working ok, on the bConverged start menu there is an icon to run a set of standard automatized tests.
A few weeks ago I start to have wrong results, and after a lot of headaches I found that the proble…
You catch the idea. Guess that the most important is to avoid the automatic pictures, I have seen several automatic reporting tools and they are really a bad idea, a wast of time and paper.
From the list that you have made maybe left boundary condi…
Me neither. I have found sometimes in tetra meshes done in another programs that Mecway shows some bad elements were the other program show no errors. Guess that this problem is more frequent with second order elements.
Would be nice a feature to m…
I was thinking in write some small scripts for automatizing this kind of task from outside the GUI. I work weeks ago in a big assembly with 50-60 components, and adding the same material STEEL for all was a pain (due to the time delay that Mecway to…
Another good feature would be that the first step/igs/stl mesh be the "default component" . Now this default component is always empty for my models unless I manually move the elements (but guess that loosing asociativity).
Hi Morten, first... you should ask to Victor for the improvement, I'm just a happy user of Mecway software.... :-) :-)
I agree with you, a CTRL and SHIFT selection modes on the tree would be very helpfull.

Normally what makes you fails the meshing algorithm is a very small surface or other small error on the model. In order to isolate what I do is in the CAD program is divide the volume in two sub-volumes, with any tool that your cad could have. Then …
Also when working with big assemblies would be great to have the possibility of select not only nodes/faces/elements but also components on the graphic window (maybe in meshing mode and also in geometry mode). I need to hide some of them and as they…
Hi Scott, have you made some advance in the impact problems? I found the error of my results for the ball example (bad CCX calling) and then make a simple model of a cell phone falling, have running but still there are things that I don't have clear…
Great job prop_design! Would be nice to be able to compute some metrics on the mesh quaility on Mecway itself. On your picture of the mesh quality, what is in the horizontal axis?
Regards!
Yes, maybe. The trick was usefull, I reduce the size of the results from almost 1GB to less than 200 MB, and keeping the data for the load deflection curve accurate. Were needed 400 increments, have tried with 100 or 200 and cannot achieve the disp…
Another thing, about the damping... how must be taken in count this value? Will depend on the material or the structure/bc? I work normally with steel and aluminium parts, would these parts have different damping????
Regards!
Hi Tim, thinking again, guess that you are right. Even if the documentation don't talk about real and imaginary components, in somwhere I remember have been reading that.
Then, for having the real (measured displacement with an accelerometer), shou…
