  • Guess that the Disconect Element feature and TIE is good enough procedure for getting accurate result at the interface nodes From my point of view there is no need to worry in this matter.
  • Welcome to the forum, Martin, your examples are very usefull. Normally for this cases (rubber parts) I don't include the metal part as they are not the matter of the analysis, sometimes I need it for contact or other purposses. But as you said, nod…
  • Have never look for the volume variation due to loading in rubber, as the mantra for hyperelastic materials is his incompressibility. Could it be that this change in volume is due to the colapse of some elements? Have you tried with reduced integrat…
  • Maybe is something related, there is a feature to compute the volume of the mesh, can be added also the weight if the density/thickness is loaded on the material? Regards
  • Have nothing in Viton yet. I have contacted some rubber compound manufacturer here that could give me some samples to measure, but I'm not sure if they will have Viton, is a very specific compound. I will try to reactivate this issue during the week…
  • How do you plan to represent the differen rubber sttiffnes? Viton data is not very common. Do you have measured data to correlationate?
  • Victor, for making the load/deflection plot I look for the values in a .dat files by means of Excel using custom filters to remove the blank lines and other stuff in the .dat file. Now I'm trying to get at list this values in Mecway by means of the …
  • I don't understand why you try to mix loading by displacement and force. Using only displacement I was able to finish the assembly (fully close). Driving the movement by force is always more complicated than fixed displacement increments. Can you …
  • Be aware that in my charts, I have made a mistake. I took yuour model and remove one element in thkcness (to speed up the calculus), so I work with 0,5 degrees. Then I multiply the load reaction by 360, but should be 720 to take in count the 0,5. Re…
  • As you say, Excel. But is a little bit akward the .dat format and a repetitive task. I don't remember now if there is another way of getting this data in a more clear way using TIME POINTS card.
  • Thanks! Will you made something to plot .dat files in the future? Is very usefull for this kind of analysis. Regards
  • Victor, on your formula for appling the displacement you took a displacement of 4.5mm, that is the actual separation betwen the rigid parts. but why at the end they don't finished completly closed? I have made it with a table directly, ramping fro…
  • Try with more increments and a displacement in place of load. And for Viton and other rubbers is better to use hyperelastic materials, now available on Mecway. You can see some rubber examples made it with Mecway and CCX at http://www.4pingeni…
  • Great tutorial! I have made some samples on pressure vessels these days, using Salome to create the meshes. What kind of elements is better for this kind of analysis, shell or hexas (extruded from 2d mesh)? I did some comparations using the same hex…
  • There is no MT-version on the final release. I have recovered from the beta 3 and selected in the Options/Calculix window. Maybe there are some mistakes present so the author has decided not to include. By the way, why exist an option to select an…
  • High end mesher as NX or even SolidWorks allow you to create midplane from solid parts (but is not perfect at all). But even for CAD modeling I use the same approach, first model as surface one side of the part (normally the one that will be in cont…
  • If you want to work with shell elements, then is better to do the CAD model directly using surfaces and not as a solid. In that cases I prefer to work with one side of the model (and not midplane), and tell the preprocessador the thickness direction…
  • Problem about to put the reduced integration option on mesh window (Meshing Parameter) is that if we work with orphan meshes (importated), there is no meshing parameter available.
  • Are you using the executable directly or by means of the batch file provided by bConverged? In that case the batch file will set up his own environment variables also, so you should edit it to add the multiple core option.
  • If you add the possibility of selecting variables to reduce the results size, can you add also some options to save results every x number of iterations for no lineal analysis? That's a good way not only to reduce the size, but also to make it easie…
  • And could be possible to keep load cases inside a configuration? I meant, in NX there is the possibility of with the same mesh/materials, create different load cases (that are solved in one time as the only difference for each load case are the load…
  • These are the ones that I have setted, all with 8 cores: CCX_NPROC_STIFFNESS NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS OMP_NUM_THREADS And, using the CXX-MT 64 bits solver provided in the Mecway Beta 3, ccx is using 8 cores for stress calculation, stiffness / …
  • In my case I use it for hyperelastic and hyperfoam materials only, and always with first grade hexa elements. I'm not sure if wedges has this behavieur coded in CCX.
  • Hi TPM, in this thread I have posted some comparation between Abaqus and CCX-Mecway. The report is in Spanish, but the figures and results are easy to understand. http://mecway.com/forum/discussion/363/mecway-calculix-vs-abaqus#latest
  • Add a new environment variable with the number of cores that you want to use: CCX_NPROC_STIFFNESS = 8
  • Is there a way to keep the results outiside the liml file maybe? I have the same problems back in v6 with long runs (no lineal analysis with too much increments and contacts), and yes, open big files can be a nightmare, even worst if is to modify th…
  • Per component have some kind of logic, as normally one assume that all the volume has the same behaveaur. In the material maybe would be more usefull, imagine the case that one define a blank/template file with all the materials normally used, and t…
  • Victor, have tried the new colors for the contour plots,  and there is one color for "no results". I have selected one color for them, but when I display no lineal results, at the time 0 still the model is showing with transparence. Should it show w…
  • As far I remember by default unv units are meters, so in NX/I-DEAS we had a way to select the unit before exporting, but Salome doesn't have it. Maybe that's why Victor choose meters as default unit. Regards
  • Great, tested and now works ok.
